Garabo Socks are made by organic cotton waste and are carefully knitted using Garabo spinning machines that were developed in Japan during the Meiji era.
These socks that are made using thick and irregular yarns, those that could not be made by modern machines, all differ in expressions that they produce, and thus, two socks with similar expressions are chosen and paired by hands.
Garabo Socks are therefore socks that are more like one-of-a-kind items.
Regarding the Garabo Spinning Machine
The Garabo spinning machine is a spinning machine unique to Japan, which was developed by Tacchi Gaun (1842-1900), who was born in Azumino, Nagano Prefecture, in 1873. It was named "Garabo" as it sounded "gara-gara" when spinning. It spins from the bottom to the top along with the sound of "gara-gara," producing an uneven yarn unique to this machine.
Now, the number of Garabo spinning machine has decreased, and there are only a few Garabo spinning machines in Japan, with few people able to control it, and therefore, it is truly a precious spinning machine.
