I was looking for a job where I could be in touch with natural materials and make products that express the warmth of those materials when chance led me to this particular job.
When you step into a bamboo forest and lend a ear to nature, the wind whispers gently through the silent stalks. The ground covered in bamboo leaves is surprisingly soft, and a wealth of life quietly thrives there. Magnificently green bamboo shoot out energetically from this ground, some growing at the unbelievable rate of a meter a day. The vitality of this natural material lives on in beautifully toned craftwork, and it brings joy to my heart to rediscover the beauty of nature within the modern world.
My goal is to make contemporary craftwork that applies traditional techniques to make products relevant to the modern world, without ignoring the basic characteristics of bamboo. I would also like to attempt to combine other materials that will help bring out the beauty of bamboo.
